Join us on Thursday May 27 at 7 p.m. as we facilitate a conversation between Linda McQuaig, Toronto Star columnist and author of many books including most recently The Sport & Prey of Capitalists: How the Rich Are Stealing Canada’s Public Wealth, and Hadrian Mertins-Kirkwood, a senior researcher at the Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives. Both speakers hold immense knowledge about the past and present of federal policy around public infrastructure and we will also be asking them about what the future of that infrastructure can and should look like.
In her book, McQuaig argues that if we are to have any hope of tackling the crises of climate change and income inequality, we have to stop shrinking – and start expanding – our public sphere. Mertins-Kirkwood contributes to the CCPA’s Alternative Federal Budget, and has written most recently about the inadequacies of the 2021 federal budget on climate action. His research focuses on a just transition for vulnerable workers and communities across the country.
